Cowan earns shutout in WHL debut
Dawson Cowan made 23 saves during his Western Hockey League debut Tuesday night as the Winnipeg ICE shut out the Calgary Hitmen 4-0.
The 16 year old from Warren, Manitoba faced nine shots in the each of the first two periods and five in the final frame.
Conor Geekie, Chase Wheatcroft, Matthew Savoie and Mikey Milne scored as the ICE improved their record to 40-9-3-2.
Ethan Buenaventura stopped 28 of 32 shots for Calgary, now with a 20-29-6-2 record.
The ICE return to action tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena versus the Moose Jaw Warriors.
