“Wild THROWBACK” – MAT GOSIEWSKI
Wild alum forward Mat Gosiewski (pronounced “go-SHEF-ski”) is in preparation for his junior year at Bentley University. The Falcons compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Atlantic Hockey Association. The school is located in Waltham, MA, about two and half hours northeast of his hometown Wilton, CT.
“The first two years of school absolutely flew by”, he said. “I’m planning to major in finance, with a minor in Law.”
Gosiewski, who picked up the nickname “Goose” had played three seasons in the USHL and a year in Penticton (BCHL) before arriving in Wenatchee for his final year of eligibility. The new scenery treated Gosiewski just fine as his offensive game exploded, scoring 28 goals for the Wild in 2018-19, after netting a total of 18 in his prior three years combined. He also collected 23 assists for a team leading total of 51 points.
“I would say our playoff fun was probably my favorite moment of my time in Wenatchee”, he recalls. “It was a blast playing in front of our fans. Even though we didn’t make it to the finals, I can remember that West Kelowna series like it was yesterday. Also, my favorite moments away from the ice were hanging with my roommate Josh Arnold. We had a great billet family and had a lot of fun together.”
With two full collegiate seasons ahead of him, his focus is more on the immediate future. “I try not to the about my post-graduation plans. But of course, my ultimate goal is to play hockey professionally after I graduate. If not, then I will hopefully be backed by a fantastic degree from Bentley, and stay in the Boston area to work in the business world.”
