“WHERE ARE THEY NOW?” – TYLER ROCKWELL

In an era where the prototypical defenseman exceeds 6’ in height, former Wenatchee Wild captain Tyler Rockwell at 5’8” has bucked the trend and is entering his junior year at Michigan Tech.

Raised in San Jose, CA (but actually born in Seattle), Rockwell played prep hockey at Shattuck – St. Mary’s in Minnesota at the Bantam, Midget, and High School levels prior to joining the Wenatchee Wild in the 2014-15 season. A solid, responsible blueliner who played nearly every night, he established himself as a capable two-way player who put points on the scoreboard. In his third and final season in Wenatchee, he wore the “C” as team captain, helping lead the team to earn the BCHL’s Ron Boileau Memorial Trophy for the best regular season record. In all, Rockwell appeared in 157 regular season games for Wenatchee, third most of any Wild defenseman all-time.

Rockwell’s play earned him a Division I commit to skate for the Michigan Tech Huskies, who compete in the WCHA and play out of Houghton, MI. His father, John, is a Tech alum, having played for the Huskies as a goalie from 1975-79. In Tyler’s freshman season, the Huskies won the WCHA Tournament.
