“WHERE ARE THEY NOW?” – RIVER RYMSHA

There’s an abundance of hockey in the family DNA, and for Wild alum defenseman River Rymsha, it’s been a tremendous journey that he hopes to see continue.

His father and uncle both played college hockey and then pro in both the US and Europe. His brother is playing pro in the LA Kings farm system. For River, the 6’3” 205 lb. Michigan native stayed close to home, playing in the Little Caesars program from the squirt level through bantams, then played at Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep for a year before returning to the Little Caesars program for his U18 season. He also dipped his toes in the USHL with the Fargo Force before arriving in Wenatchee for the 2013-14 season. He played in 45 games and collected 16 points.

After juniors, Rymsha attended the Detroit Red Wings Prospect Camp before heading to Dartmouth where he played in 63 games over four seasons and was a three-time ECAC All-Academic Team selection. With a year of eligibility remaining, Rymsha played last season (2018-19) at the University of Miami-Ohio and had unarguably the best season of his college career.

In addition to his success on the ice, Rymsha completed his Masters Degree in Political Science. He’s currently looking at options to continue his playing career in the fall.
