A proud third-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
ZACH BENSON, 2020-23 (8 GP, 0-8-8) – Most recently played last Thursday, earning a power play assist in the Buffalo Sabres’ 4-3 overtime loss at the Buffalo Sabres.
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (13 GP, 6-1-7) – Registered his 300th career goal Saturday in the Florida Panthers’ 4-3 home win over the Dallas Stars. Only three percent of NHL players have finished their careers with 300 or more goals.

MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (15 GP, 1-1-2) – Has had a busy stretch recently for the Edmonton Oilers with four games in six days, and notched his first NHL goal October 30 with a deflection on the power play in a 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Rangers.

AHL
CONOR GEEKIE, 2019-24 (5 GP, 3-4-7) – Has torn up the competition in his five Syracuse Crunch games thus far, posting at least one point in all five outings – he heated up this past weekend with back-to-back multi-point games, with a power play goal and an assist in Friday’s 4-0 win over the Utica Comets. That preceded a two-assist outing Saturday against the Belleville Senators.

ZACK OSTAPCHUK, 2022-23 (9 GP, 2-1-3) – Notched a shorthanded goal Saturday in a 4-2 San Jose Barracuda win over the Ontario Reign.
ECHL
ISAAC JOHNSON, 2019-20 (7 GP, 1-7-8) – Got back on the stat sheet with an assist Friday in the Iowa Heartlanders’ 5-3 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (8 GP, 4-3-7) – Ultimately extended his point streak to six games before seeing it snapped to end the past weekend – his assist Friday helped the Tulsa Oilers build their lead on the way to a 4-2 win at the Kansas City Mavericks, before posting a goal and assisting on the eventual game-winner the next night in a 4-3 win at Kansas City. TANNER FAITH (2010-11/2012-15) tacked on an assist of his own on the first goal of Friday’s win.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (4 GP, 2-1-3) – Provided a late assist in the Norfolk Admirals’ 3-2 loss Saturday at the Wheeling Nailers.
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (7 GP, 1-2-3) – Played all three games of last weekend’s Rapid City Rush road trip at the Allen Americans, and posted one assist as part of Rapid City’s 6-3 loss Saturday.
REECE HARSCH, 2019-20 (2 GP, 0-2-2) – Made his Fort Wayne Komets debut Friday and nabbed an assist in the first period of his team’s 5-3 win at the Iowa Heartlanders. He followed that up the next day with another assist in a 2-0 Komets victory in Coralville.
JAKE ELMER, 2016-17 (6 GP, 0-2-2) – Earned an assist on Sunday in a battle of two of the ECHL’s newest teams, helping the first-year Greensboro Gargoyles to a 5-2 win at the Trois-Rivieres Lions.
EVAN FRIESEN, 2021-25 (8 GP, 0-1-1) – Made his season debut on the stat sheet Thursday in the Utah Grizzlies’ win against the Jacksonville IceMen, setting up the eventual game-winner with the primary assist.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (0-1-1, 1.98) – Is still seeking his first win with the Calgary Flames, but is playing well in limited time – Cooley started Thursday’s game at the Ottawa Senators, making 38 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss, and made 12 saves Saturday in a relief appearance as the Flames dropped a 4-2 decision at the Nashville Predators.
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (10 GP, 4-6-10) – Had the best stretch of back-to-back games in his Calgary Wranglers career this past weekend, starting with a first-period assist and the overtime winner in Saturday’s 4-3 overtime victory against the Bakersfield Condors. One night later, he posted another goal and two assists as the Wranglers routed Bakersfield, 6-2.
The Calgary Wranglers came out on top in a 4-3 overtime win against the Bakersfield Condors at the Scotiabank Saddledome, with goals from Martin Frk, Rory Kerins, Carter King, and Sam Morton securing the victory.

BRETT CHORSKE, 2019-20 (7 GP, 1-1-2) – Potted the game-winner 1:41 into the third period Saturday to help push the Charlotte Checkers to a 5-3 road win at the Springfield Thunderbirds.
BRYAN YOON, 2015-16 (8 GP, 1-1-2) – Tied Sunday’s Colorado Eagles game at the San Diego Gulls, scoring a goal on the way to the Eagles’ 3-1 victory.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (1-0-0, 2.03) – Made his Jacksonville IceMen debut Friday, anchoring the net to the tune of 27 saves for his first win with his new team.
