A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (42 GP, 23-24-47) – Scored his first points for the Florida Panthers since the holiday break, assisting on Gustav Forsling’s goal 36 seconds into the second period before scoring the shootout winner in Friday’s 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Wednesday, he scored a power play goal to kick off the scoring in a 4-1 win at Utah.
ZACH BENSON, 2020-23 (35 GP, 7-6-13) – Scored on his only shot on goal last Thursday with a wraparound in the Buffalo Sabres’ 6-5 overtime loss at the Colorado Avalanche.
PEYTON KREBS, 2016-21 (40 GP, 4-8-12) – Played less than nine minutes last Thursday in the Buffalo Sabres’ 6-5 overtime loss at the Colorado Avalanche, but made those minutes count with an assist on Zach Benson’s wraparound goal.
CONOR GEEKIE, 2019-24 (37 GP, 5-6-11) – Notched an assist in a 3-2 Tampa Bay Lightning home win Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes. His assist came on one of Tampa Bay’s three go-ahead goals in the game.
BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (40 GP, 2-5-7) – Picked up a late second-period assist last Thursday in the Vegas Golden Knights’ 5-2 home win against the Philadelphia Flyers.
AHL
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (29 GP, 9-15-24) – Opened his 2025 on a tear, following a three-point game in his last game of 2024 with another three points Friday in the Bakersfield Condors’ 5-4 overtime win against the Henderson Silver Knights. His assist set up Lane Pederson for the winner with just 16 seconds left in the extra session.
CHASE WHEATCROFT, 2021-22 (32 GP, 6-11-17) – Wiped away a monthlong scoreless streak, with points in back-to-back-to-back games this past week for the Texas Stars. His assist Friday came on a power play goal with 13 seconds left in the first period of a 6-3 loss to the Tucson Roadrunners, but he added two more the following night in a 5-0 win. His second-period goal Wednesday helped the Stars build a four-goal lead in a 4-1 win against the Rockford IceHogs.
NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (26 GP, 8-8-16) – Scored a goal and an assist Friday in a 5-4 Bakersfield Condors overtime win against the Henderson Silver Knights.
MICHAEL MILNE, 2018-22 (28 GP, 6-8-14) – Scored one of two go-ahead goals for the Iowa Wild last Thursday in a 3-2 loss at the Rockford IceHogs.
CALE FLEURY, 2014-18 (18 GP, 5-9-14) – Posted a power play assist in the Coachella Valley Firebirds’ 6-4 victory last Thursday against the Texas Stars, in a game where the teams combined to score five power play goals.
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (27 GP, 3-10-13) – Picked up an assist as part of five unanswered Hershey Bears goals in a 5-1 win over the Providence Bruins on Sunday.
DAWSON BARTEAUX, 2019-20 (29 GP, 0-6-6) – Earned his first point in two months with an assist in Wednesday’s 4-3 Manitoba Moose overtime win at the Milwaukee Admirals.
JACK FINLEY, 2021-22 (8 GP, 2-3-5) – Returned to the stat sheet with an assist Saturday in a 3-2 Syracuse Crunch overtime loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
ECHL
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (30 GP, 11-13-24) – Opened his new year with points in back-to-back Utah Grizzlies games, starting with an assist Friday on the game-winner in a 4-1 victory against the Idaho Steelheads. He would go on to score both goals in the game the following night, a 3-2 road loss at Idaho.
BRETT DAVIS, 2016-19 (30 GP, 11-11-22) – Posted an empty-net goal Saturday for the Rapid City Rush to close out a 3-1 win against the Tulsa Oilers.
CAM HAUSINGER, 2017-19 (26 GP, 12-7-19) – Picked up a goal and an assist over the first full week of the new year for the Indy Fuel, including a third-period assist in Friday’s 4-1 win against the Kalamazoo Wings, and a game-tying goal Wednesday in a 2-1 overtime victory against the Wheeling Nailers.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (14GP, 2-15-17) – Had an assist as part of a 9-3 Norfolk Admirals home rout of the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (31 GP, 6-9-15) – Has two goals in the new year for the Atlanta Gladiators, starting with a first-period goal Friday in a 3-2 overtime victory against the South Carolina Stingrays. Two nights later, he scored again in a 4-3 win at the Savannah Ghost Pirates.
BOBBY RUSSELL, 2016-18 (27 GP, 2-8-10) – Bookended his New Year’s week with points for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, starting with a goal to start a third-period comeback in a 6-5 overtime loss at Atlanta on Friday. His assist Tuesday came before a decisive scoring sprint from Norfolk in an 8-3 loss to the Admirals.
OWEN PEDERSON, 2018-23 (13 GP, 4-4-8) – Ended the run to the holiday break with two goals Sunday in an 8-5 Maine Mariners win at the Worcester Railers. His second goal early in the third period stood up as the game-winner.
NOLAN ORZECK, 2017-22 (21 GP, 2-5-7) – Closed out 2024 with an assist Saturday in the Allen Americans’ 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Mavericks, followed by a game-tying goal in the second period of Tuesday’s 6-2 home loss against the Idaho Steelheads.
JON MARTIN, 2011-16 (15 GP, 0-5-5) – Provided an assist for the Kalamazoo Wings Saturday in a 7-2 loss to the Bloomington Bison.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
NIC DOWD, 2008-09 (41 GP, 10-5-15) – Picked up his first point of the new year for the Washington Capitals on Saturday, with an assist in a 7-4 win against the New York Rangers.
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (34 GP, 7-11-18) – Scored his first Calgary Wranglers goal of the new year on Sunday, with less than five minutes to go in a 3-2 loss to the Manitoba Moose.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (15-6-0, 1.99) – Took a loss for the Calgary Wranglers on Sunday, stopping 20 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Manitoba Moose.
KYLE MAYHEW, 2016-17 (31 GP, 4-25-29) – Cranked out three assists in as many games for the Fort Wayne Komets this past week, starting with two assists Friday in a 4-3 loss to the Toledo Walleye. He tacked on another assist Sunday in a 3-2 Fort Wayne defeat against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
CHARLIE COMBS, 2015-17 (25 GP, 9-10-19) – Picked up his first goal in a month on Wednesday, as part of a four-goal South Carolina Stingrays first period in a 7-3 rout of the Atlanta Gladiators.
TROY LOGGINS, 2013-14 (31 GP, 11-7-18) – Finished his weekend with two assists Sunday in the Tahoe Knight Monsters’ 5-2 win at the Maine Mariners.
P.J. FLETCHER, 2018-19 (28 GP, 2-5-7) – Had his best game yet this season Saturday in a 7-2 Bloomington Bison win at the Kalamazoo Wings, assisting on the game’s opening goal less than three minutes in, and scoring one of his own just 2:15 into the second period.
STANISLAV DEMIN, 2016-18 (14 GP, 0-4-4) – Picked up an assist Saturday in the Idaho Steelheads’ 3-2 win at home against the Utah Grizzlies.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (8-5-1, 2.70) – Played 50 flawless minutes to earn a 2-1 win for the South Carolina Stingrays on Sunday, toppling the Jacksonville IceMen behind 21 saves.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (5-10-2, 3.84) – Made 24 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss Friday for the Worcester Railers against the Reading Royals.
