WHERE ARE THEY NOW? – Jacob Hamacher

With his junior career behind him, former Wild forward Jacob Hamacher is preparing for his junior year in college at the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Division I program that competes in the Atlantic Hockey conference.

When Hamacher was skating for the California Titans 16U team near his Corona, CA home, his playmaking ability was noted by scouts at the junior level, and as he continued to grow his game with the Wilkes Barre / Scranton Knights 16U program the following season, options began to unfold in front of him. Drafted by the USHL’s Bloomington Thunder in the 2014 Entry Draft, he elected instead to join the Wild. As the Wild transitioned into the BCHL, Hamacher landed with the Minnesota Wilderness to begin the 2015-16 season, but after 9 games returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, who were in their first year at the Tier II level. Hamacher would go on to lead the team in scoring. Once again, he was selected in the USHL Entry Draft, this time by the Dubuque Fighting Saints and he would play his final season of juniors there.

Now entering his junior year at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY, he’s transitioned well to the Division I game. After a modest 8 points as a freshman, Hamacher blossomed to a 30-point campaign as a sophomore, third best on the team.
