WHEAT KINGS ANNOUNCE PLAYOFF; AWARDS NIGHT DATES

Brandon, Manitoba — The Western Hockey League has announced the dates and times for the Moose Jaw Warriors vs. Brandon Wheat Kings’ best of seven opening round playoff series.r

The series will begin in Moose Jaw with games one and two scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 24th. The series will then shift to Winnipeg’s MTS Centre for games three and four on Monday, March 27th and Thursday, March 30th.r

Game five (if necessary) is set for Moose Jaw on Sunday, April 2nd, with game six (if necessary) scheduled for Brandon’s Keystone Centre on Tuesday, April 4th. Should a seventh game be necessary, it would be played the following night back at the “Crushed Can” in Moose Jaw. All seven games are 7 p.m. starts. Games three and four will be played in Winnipeg due to a scheduling conflict with the 2006 Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon.r

The Wheat Kings, who begin the final week of regular season play Tuesday night in Swift Current against the Broncos, will play their final regular season home game this Friday night against the visiting Regina Pats. Friday night is Tim Hortons St. Patrick’s Day Fan Appreciation Night, with several prizes to be won for the best dressed fans “in green”.r

In other off-ice news, the Wheat Kings have confirmed that this year’s Awards Banquet will be held this Sunday, March 19th in the Keystone Centre’s UCT Pavillion. Cocktails are scheduled for 5 p.m., with the Dinner at six. Award presentations to follow.
