MANITOBA’S DENISET RECEIVES HONOUR
Calgary, Alberta — The Canada West Universities Athletic Association and the Western Hockey League are pleased to announce that forward Paul Deniset of the University of Manitoba Bisons has been named the Canada West Husky WHL Graduate of the Month for January.r

A 23-year old Physical Education student from Winnipeg, Deniset becomes the third winner of the award this season.r

The former Prince Albert Raider won the award in a very close race among four nominees in the voting conducted by the seven Canada West hockey coaches.r

Each monthly winner receives a $500 cheque from the WHL to go towards the cost of his education.r

Deniset led all scorers in Canada West Hockey during January, scoring 12 goals and 17 points in eight games as he led the Bisons to an impressive 5-1-2 record. Nine of hisgoals came in only three games as he registered three hat tricks during the month.r

Scoring points in six of Manitoba’s eight games last month, Deniset put together a 5-game scoring streak to start the month. Among his twelve goals were four powerplay markers, two shorthanded tallies and one game winner. In overall play, he has a conference leading 25 goals and 42 points in 32 games.r

Deniset played four seasons in the WHL with Kamloops, Swift Current, Vancouver and the Raiders.r
