CANADA BLASTS GERMANY
Kazan, Russia — Team Canada is off to a winning start at the World Under 18 Championships in Russia.
rTaylor Hall of the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires scored once and set up three others Sunday as Canada blasted Germany 9-2 in the opening game of the weeklong event.
rRegina’s Jordan Eberle and Nicolas Deschamps of Chicoutimi added two goals each for the Canadian entry, that features two members of the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings.
rWhile 16-year old Brayden Schenn and 17-year old Colby Robak didn’t figure in the scoring, Schenn was a +2.
rCanada’s next game is Tuesday vs. Denmark.
rThe Canadians are one of ten nations participating in this year’s event and is joined in Group A by Russia, Denmark, Slovakia and Germany.
