WESTOBA WHEAT KINGS JR REPORTER
Brandon, MB. – The Brandon Wheat Kings and Westoba Credit Union have joined forces in the hopes of finding the next Bruce Luebke.
We’re excited to announce plans for the first ever Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporter Contest.
The contest, which starts Monday, September 14th, is open to all Manitoba hockey fans between the ages of five to 12. To enter, Wheat King fans are encouraged to submit a video of their interviewing skills, showing us why they are the next Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporter!
This contest gives young hockey lovers a chance to enter to win some great prizes, and the opportunity to meet and interview players and staff from the WHL club.
Interviews will be featured on KingsVision, westoba.com, wheatkings.com, on the Video Scoreboard at a number of Brandon home games in 2015-16 as well as all over social media!
“I am a huge Wheat Kings fan and I can’t think of a better way of building excitement around another great season that by giving young fans a chance to meet the team,” says Jim Rediger, Chief Executive Officer of WCU. “This contest gives kids an opportunity to get involved, be creative and talk about something they’re passionate about.”
Contest deadline is Saturday, October 17th, 2015. Fans are encouraged to visit westoba.com for more information on the contest, to submit their unique and creative videos and to watch all submissions.
Two winners will be announced on Thursday, October 29th and will make their 2015-16 season debut on Friday, November 6th when the Wheat Kings host the visiting Victoria Royals.
“I know that other clubs have done this and have been overwhelmed by the response,” says Rick Dillabough, Wheat Kings’ Director of Business Operations and Sponsorship. “We know there are many talented, young candidates across western Manitoba and we’re encouraging them to enter. This is an exciting opportunity and the list of prizes to be won are pretty impressive.”
The play by play voice of the Wheat Kings since 1992, Luebke is one of the longest serving broadcasters in the WHL and is well respected for his in depth and insightful interviews.
