Kootenay Defeats Everett, 3-1
Everett, WA – The Kootenay Ice defeated the Silvertips 3-1 Tuesday night in Everett. Scott MacDonald scored the only goal for Everett with assists to Landon Ferraro and Chad Suer. Kent Simpson made 28 saves for the Silvertips. Joey Leach, Max Reinhart and Jesse Ismond scored for the Ice.
Kootenay opened up the scoring at 9:46 of the first period. Leach scored his fourth goal of the season after a snap shot from the far left dot made its way through traffic in front of the net and past Simpson for a 1-0 Ice lead. MacDonald scored for Everett at 12:01 to tie the score 1-1. Scoring on the power play, MacDonald picked up a loose puck on top of the slot ad went glove side past Ice goaltender Nathan Lieuwen. Everett led in shots 12-9 after the first period.
Reinhart scored for Kootenay just 28 seconds into the second period to regain the lead for the Ice. Reinhart broke into the Everett zone 2 on 1 and beat Simpson on a well placed wrist shot, high blocker side. Kootenay led 22-15 in shots after two periods of play.
The Ice took a two goal lead when Ismond scored his ninth goal of the season at 1:15 of the third. Ismond received a pass while rushing through the slot and sick handled past Simpson to make the score 3-1 in favor of Kootenay. Simpson was pulled with 26 seconds left for an extra attacker but Kootenay was able to hold on to a 3-1 victory.
This brings the ‘Tips record to 11-12-1-3 with 26 points in 27 games played. Everett goes on an Eastern Conference road trip starting this Friday, December 3rd with a 5:05 pm start against the Swift Current Broncos.
