Everett and Seattle End with 1-1 Tie
Tonight at the Key Arena in Seattle, WA the Everett Silvertips and the Seattle Thunderbirds end in a 1-1 tie after overtime. This is the sixth of ten meetings between these two teams with Everett leading the series 3-2-1. The Seattle Thunderbirds stay in first place in the US Division with 70 points while Everett remains in second with 59 points. Seattle sits at 34-18-1-1 while Everett is now 25-22-7-2.
Neither team scored through the first two periods. Seattle got on the board first when Denis Tolpeko earned his seventh goal on the year at 8:08 in the third period. Chris Durand and Bryan Bridges tallied the assists. Everett responded three minutes later when Ivan Baranka sent one flying into the back of the net to tie it up at one a piece with help from Alex Leavitt and Torrie Wheat. Even though the game went into overtime, neither team gained the upper hand.
In net for the Silvertips was Mike Wall who stopped 29 of 30 shots. Bryan Bridges, in between the pipes for Seattle, made 25 saves on 26 shots. Wall’s record now sits at 19-17-6 while Bridges is at 27-14-1. Both teams were scoreless on the power play with Everett having six chances and Seattle having five. The Thunderbirds out shot the Silvertips by a margin of 30-26 in the hockey game.
The Silvertips will host the Spokane Chiefs tomorrow night, February 13th, at the Everett Events Center. The puck drops at 5:05pm.
