GAME RECAP: Tips win third straight, best Hitmen 6-4 at Saddledome
CALGARY, Albe. — The Everett Silvertips extended their win streak to three games at the Scotiabank Saddledome Friday night, besting the Calgary Hitmen 6-4.
Austin Roest opened the scoring for the Silvertips six minutes into play, roofing a powerplay goal for his seventh of the season. Everett’s powerplay converted for a second time at 9:26, as tic-tac-toe passing found Jesse Heslop for a one-timer, his fourth of the year. Carter Yakemchuk brought the Hitmen within one before period’s end.
Bear went to work in the second period, as a diving effort for a loose puck in front of the net at 10:09 resulted in his first of the night. Calgary native Eric Jamieson blasted his third goal of the year from the blueline just 21 seconds later, giving Everett a 4-1 lead.
The Hitmen began battling back at Yakemchuk potted his second of the game at 12:17, followed up by a Tyson Greenway powerplay goal at 15:58. The Silvertips restored their multi-goal lead before period’s end, as a board-battle win by Teague Patton opened space for a Carter Bear wraparound goal at 16:54.
Calgary pulled within one once again at 12:59 in the third period with a Sean Tschigerl powerplay goal. Roest iced it with an empty-netter at 19:51 to seal a 6-4 victory.
Ethan Chadwick stopped 37 of 41 in the victory, his fourth as a Silvertip.
