Sutter, a left-handed defenseman from Kamloops, BC, appeared in 183 career WHL games over four seasons in Everett. He achieved career-highs in every offensive category as an overager in 2022-23, notching six goals with 32 assists in 62 appearances. He added four assists in five playoff games as well.
Originally added to the roster as an undrafted prospect in March of 2019, Sutter eventually grew into a leadership role on the team, serving as an alternate captain for the second half of the 2022-23 season.
“He’s the ultimate teammate,” general manager/head coach Dennis Williams commented during an interview at the conclusion of the regular season. “He can skate, he can think the game, he’s competitive, and he’s a team guy. What a lot of people don’t see what he brings to our group away from the ice in a leadership role.”
Aidan Sutter becomes the second Silvertips alum to sign their first professional contract this summer, joining Jackson Berezowski who signed with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.
The Florida Everblades begin their back-to-back Kelly Cup champion title defense on Oct. 19.
