2010 Pink The Rink Raises $38,807.77
The Everett Silvertips are proud to announce that their fans helped raised over $38,897.77 during the team’s second annual “Pink in the Rink” auction! Funds raised from Pink the Rink will help provide free mammograms for women in Snohomish County with limited means to pay and will also help support other breast health activities.
“I think this just goes to show why Silvertips fans are the best in the league,” Silvertips Director of Operations Zoran Rajcic said. “Even during this economic downturn, they still find a way to help out. It pleases me to know that our fans can be this generous for such a worthy cause.”
The Silvertips players wore special themed “Pink in the Rink” jerseys that were auctioned off during the game with the net proceeds benefiting the Providence General Foundation. The highest bid for a jersey was $1,500.00 for the Ryan Murray jersey.
Also, for a $100.00 donation fans received a limited edition Pink The Rink hockey stick signed by their favorite player for a $150.00 donation they received a team signed Pink The Rink stick.
Silvertips season ticket holder Denny Spencer personally donated $5,000.00 to the cause in memory of his wife who recently lost her battle with breast cancer.
Prior to the game, the Silvertips sold over 900 special ticket package, that included an upper level ticket, an “I Pinked the Rink” Silvertips t-shirt for only $20.00 that also included a $6.00 donation to the Providence General Foundation.
Additional money was raised during the game through the sale of 2,000 additional “I Pinked the Rink” shirts, a sports memorabilia auction and the team also donated all games proceeds generated through program sales and chuck-a-puck sales.
In 2009, the Silvertips help raise $13,000 for breast cancer awareness.
