Victoria, B.C. — The Victoria Royals returned to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight for their final clash of the regular season with the Portland Winterhawks.
Brandon Lisowsky opened the scoring with a goal 21 seconds into the first period, assisted by Brayden Bohem, to give the Royals an early 1-0 lead. The Royals held the lead through the first frame.
Hayden Moore extended the Royals lead at 7:48 of the second period, assisted by Nate Misskey and Cosmo Wilson. The Winterhawks got on the board with a goal from Diego Buttazzoni at 16:56 of the frame, but Reggie Newman responded with a goal 12 seconds later, assisted by Logan Pickford. The Royals held the 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
The Royals lead was cut to one by a power play goal from Diego Buttazzoni at 8:01 of the third frame. Teydon Trembecky netted a goal at 17:06, assisted by Kenta Isogai and Justin Kipkie, to bring the score to 4-2 for the Royals. The Winterhawks responded with a power play marker from Ryan Miller just over one minute later, but the Royals held the one-goal lead to secure the 4-3 win.
