Recap: Royals (2) @ Rockets (1) – Sept. 27, 2024
Kelowna, B.C. – The Royals met the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night at Prospera Place on the team’s first road trip of the 2024-25 season.
Markus Loponen opened the scoring for the Royals less than two minutes into the first period, in his first regular season game after returning from Winnipeg Jets training camp. The goal was assisted by Teydon Trembecky and Keaton Verhoeff, and was the only goal scored in the first period.
The second period was scoreless and saw each team be unsuccessful on the powerplay. The Royals held on to a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Michael Cicek tied the game for the Rockets at 4:20 of the third period, assisted by Jackson Gillespie and Levi Benson. Nate Misskey answered back for the Royals less than two minutes later, assisted by Seth Fryer to regain the lead.
The Royals would hold on to win the game 2-1.
