Royals Roundup Episode #2 – Matt Pettinger and Bayne Pettinger
Welcome to the second episode of The Royals Roundup! This week we welcomed Matt Pettinger and Bayne Pettinger to chat about their hockey careers and growing up in Victoria.
Matt Pettinger kicked off his hockey career with the Victoria Salsa (BCJHL) between 1995-1998. Following his time in Victoria, Matt would go on to play two seasons at the University of Denver (NCAA) before finishing off his junior career with the Calgary Hitmen (WHL). Matt would turn pro with the Washington Capitals during the 2000-2001 regular-season which kick-started his lengthy career. He spent time with the Capitals, Lightning and Canucks before finishing his pro-career overseas playing in Germany for five seasons. Matt also represented Hockey Canada on several different occasions including the 1999 and 2000 World Junior Championships.
Bayne Pettinger boasts an impressive hockey resume which continues to this day behind the scenes. Bayne made his first mark in the hockey world during the U18 World Junior Hockey Championships in 2012-2013 as the Team Manager for Hockey Canada. He would spend the next seven years working with Hockey Canada at several different international tournaments. Since finishing up with Hockey Canada, Bayne switched over to the hockey agent world. He now represents several NHL players including: Tyson Barrie, Jamie Benn and Jordie Benn.
