Rebels Win 6-2 Over Swift Current
FIRST PERIOD
The Broncos owned the opening minutes of the game and eventually would open the scoring. A point shot from Max Lajoie found its way through a maze and past Rylan Toth at the 6:50 mark for a 1-0 game.
25 seconds later, the Rebels tied the game on their first shot on goal. Conner Bleackley beat Broncos goalie Travis Child five hole for his 8th goal of the year. Haydn Fleury and Mario Grman had the assists on the 1-1 goal at 7:15.
SECOND PERIOD
The Rebels took a 2-1 lead when Scott Feser feathered a breakaway pass to Brooks Maxwell, who went in to bury his 7th of the year, the Rebels 9th shorthanded goal of the year, 1:58 into the middle frame.
Austin Strand gave the Rebels a 3-1 lead when his seeing-eye point shot found the back of the at 5:08. Strand’s 4th of the year, set up by Bleackley and Grayson Pawlenchuk, chased Broncos goalie Travis Child from the net. In came Landon Bow to take over.
Wyatt Johnson went end to end on the Broncos and snapped home his team leading 13th goal of the year. The unassisted goal at 12:40 was the Rebels’ league leading 10th shorthanded marker. 4-1 Rebels.
THIRD PERIOD
Moments after their fifth powerplay had ended, the Rebels surged ahead 5-1. The rebound from a Kayle Doetzel point shot landed right on Scott Feser’s stick. Feser put home his own rebound for his 10th, 3:15 into the final period.
Evan Polei put the Rebels up 6-1 with his 12th of the year at 9:17. Adam Musil and Feser set up the goal, which came less than a minute after the previous shift ended with four simultaneous fights on the ice. Child also returned to the Broncos net following the goal.
Swift Current netted their second goal of the night at 11:47 as Jordan Harris beat Rylan Toth for his 2nd of the year. That would do it for scoring in this one as the Rebels would cruise to a 6-2 victory.
