The Rebels road a 3-goal performance from Byron Froese, enroute to a 7-4 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders Wednesday night.
PA opened the scoring at 7:26 of the first period on a power play goal from Igor Revenko. John Persson responded just 20 seconds later to tie the game at one. Revenko picked up his second goal of the game, and Todd Fiddler connected for the Raiders also, who lead 3-1 after one period.
Red Deer would get one back early in the second, as Byron Froese took a Mathew Dumba pass, and beat goaltender Jamie Tucker. The Raiders would respond once again off the stick of Revenko, who’s hat trick goal put PA up by 2 again. Cue to the comeback for Red Deer, beginning with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at 15:54, and Byron Froese at 17:07 of the second, and the game was tied.
The third period belonged to the Rebels, who got goals from Colin Archer, Froese, and Adam Kambeitz enroute to the 7-4 victory.
Next up for Red Deer is a date with the Warriors from Moose Jaw Friday night (7:30).
