Blades Edge Rebels 3-2
SASKATOON, SK – The Rebels made a big push late in the game, but fell short 3-2 to the Blades in Saskatoon on Friday.
The Blades got on board early in the game, Sam McKechnie gave Saskatoon a 1-0 lead 1:02 in the first period.
The Rebels tied it up in the second period, Brett Cote picked up his first goal of the season. The Blades tied it up 26 seconds later, Landon Welykholowa with the Saskatoon goal. Alex Forsberg added a shorthanded marker before the end of the period and the Blades had a 3-1 lead after two periods.
The Rebels made it close at 17:19 of the third period on a goal by Conner Bleackley. With goaltender Rylan Toth on the bench for the extra attacker, the Rebels pressured the Blades net, but Alex Moodie kept the door shut.
Toth finished the game with 28 saves, Moodie had 32.
The Rebels were 0 for 3 on the power play and killed off all 3 shorthanded situations.
The two game road trip ends Saturday in Prince Albert, broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 6:50PM.
