Rebels select Pickering in first round of WHL Prospects Draft
RED DEER – The Red Deer Rebels have selected defenceman Graeme Pickering with the 15th overall pick in round one of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
Pickering, from St. Adolphe, Manitoba, played for RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg U15 in 2023-24, collecting 36 points in 27 games.
The right-shooting blue liner is listed at 5’9, 145 pounds.
Graeme is the younger brother of Swift Current Broncos captain and Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Owen Pickering. He’s also a cousin of Moose Jaw Warriors captain, WHL Defenceman of the Year, and Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Denton Mateychuk.
