Raiders Iced by Kootenay

Prince Albert, SK – The Raiders and Ice were in a battle for most of this one. The green and gold had a few good chances early including an end-to-end play by Brendan Guhle. Kootenay opened the scoring at 8:11 and continued to have good chances off Raider turnovers. It was 1-0 Kootenay after 1, shots were 12-11 for Kootenay.

After spending most of the second period in Kootenay’s end, the Raiders were finally able to capitalize on a goal from Matteo Gennaro to even things up at one at the 9:40 mark. Just two minutes later Gennaro got the first of only two penalties in the game. With a minute and a half remaining Rylan Parenteau made a clutch glove save on a Kootenay breakaway to keep the teams squared at one.

Entering the third period the teams were deadlocked at one. Just 5:46 into the frame the Ice took the lead. Parenteau continued to make save after save to keep the Raiders in this one until Kootenay blew the game open halfway through the third period scoring 3 goals in 4 minutes making it 5-1. Simon Stransky added a second Raider goal with four and half minutes left in the third on a nice feed from Tim Vanstone. The Raiders dropped this one 5-2 to Kootenay.
