Scott Shines In Win Over Hitmen
Calgary, AB – Hometown hero Ian Scott backstopped the Prince Albert Raiders (4-7-1-0) to a 3-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen (3-5-1-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Calgary product stopped 32 of 34 shots fired his way – including 11 of 12 in the third period – to earn his third victory of the season.
The Raiders got on the board first on Sunday afternoon. Adam Kadlec collected the puck after getting out of the penalty box and snapped it past Cody Porter for his first career WHL goal, giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead at the 8:57 mark of the frame. Later in the period, Simon Stransky finished off a three-on-one rush for his seventh goal of the season, putting the Raiders up 2-0 after the opening 20 minutes.
In the second, Luke Coleman extended the Raiders’ lead to 3-0. He stole the puck behind the Hitmen’s net and converted on a wraparound attempt at the 6:28 mark. Near the end of the second, Taylor Sanheim got the Hitmen on the board when he pounced on a loose puck in front of Raiders goaltender Ian Scott.
The Hitmen cut the lead to one at the 7:19 mark of the third period when Carson Twarynski beat Scott to make it a 3-2 game. The Raiders’ 17-year-old netminder held the crease for the rest of the game as Calgary pressed for the equalizer.
In the other goal, Porter made 12 saves on 15 attempts for the Hitmen in the loss.
