Ryan McDonald named assistant coach of Canada Black at U17 World Hockey Challenge
Hockey Canada announced today that Prince Albert Raiders assistant coach Ryan McDonald has been named an assistant coach for Canada Black at the 2024 U17 World Hockey Challenge.
McDonald just finished his third season as an assistant coach with the Raiders in 2023-24. He won a silver medal as an assistant coach with Team Saskatchewan at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
Representing Canada for the first time, McDonald will join head coach Mathieu Turcotte (Blainville-Boisbriand, QMJHL), as well as fellow assistant coach Brad MacKenzie (Halifax, QMJHL) behind the bench for Canada Black.
McDonald becomes the first player or coach from the Raiders to be named to a U17 Canada team since 2022, when Cole Peardon played for Canada Black, and Ryder Ritchie suited up for Canada White.
The U17 World Hockey Challenge runs from November 1-9, 2024 in Sarnia, Ontario.
