Rudolph named to Canada’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup roster
The Prince Albert Raiders are proud to announce that defenceman Daxon Rudolph has been named to Canada’s roster for the 2025 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. The tournament starts on August 11th in Brno, Czechia and Trencin, Slovakia.
Rudolph will look to capture his third gold medal with Hockey Canada at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. The 17-year-old won gold at the 2024 U17 World Hockey Challenge in Ontario, as well as the 2025 U18 World Hockey Championship in Texas.
In his rookie WHL season, Rudolph scored seven goals and tallied 34 assists for 41 points. On two different occasions, the Lacombe, AB product was named WHL Rookie of the Week. He was also named WHL Rookie of the Month in January. Rudolph finished tied for 12th in rookie scoring across the WHL in the regular season. In the 2025 WHL Playoffs Presented by Nutrien, the blueliner finished third in team scoring, notching a goal and 11 assists for 12 points.
On Canada’s 25-man roster, Rudolph is one off 11 players from the WHL.
Canada will play a pair of exhibition games, first on August 7th against Hungary’s national U-20 team in Budapest. They will also play against Slovakia on August 9th.
The preliminary round of the tournament kicks off on August 11th when Canada takes on Finland. Canada will also face Switzerland and Czechia on August 12th and 13th, respectively. The tournament concludes on August 16th with the medal games.
