McDonald’s Three-Point Night Lifts Raiders Over Former Team
Prince Albert, SK – Kody McDonald had a night to remember against his former team on Friday at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Lethbridge, AB product has a goal and two assists to spark the Prince Albert Raiders (19-20-7-2) to a 6-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars (18-24-4-3).
McDonald scored his goal 3:51 into the contest. On a Cougars power play, the 19-year-old centre beat the defenceman to the puck and outmuscled him to the net, lifting his shot over Tavin Grant to put the Raiders up 1-0.
Midway through the period, Prince George tied it up. Josh Maser picked the corner over Ian Scott off the rush to make it a 1-1 game.

Later in the period, Jordy Stallard restored the Raiders’ one-goal lead. Trailing the play, he took a pass from Sean Montgomery and snapped it past Grant for a 2-1 Raiders’ advantage.
Six minutes into the second period, the Cougars again tied the game. Liam Ryan was left alone in the slot and he beat Scott to tie the game at 2-2.
With 3:40 to play in the period, Parker Kelly gave the Raiders the lead for good. He cut inside former Raider Rhett Rhinehart and shot it past Grant to give Prince Albert the 3-2 lead.
The Raiders put the game away in the third period. Curtis Miske extended his point streak to six games when he took a pass from Stallard and snapped it through Grant 1:21 into the final frame. Then, Cole Fonstad finished off a give-and-go play with McDonald to make it a 5-2 game. Sean Montgomery rounded out the scoring with a power-play marker at the 10:20 mark.
Scott tied his career high in wins with his 13th of the season by stopping 22 shots. Grant turned aside 29 Raider shots in the loss.
