Game Preview: Game 51 vs Swift Current
SETTING IT UP: The Raiders (19-28-3-0) return to the Art Hauser Centre for the first time in three weeks as they wrap up a home and home set with the Swift Current Broncos. The green and gold come in trying to snap a three game losing streak, as well as try to snap a shutout streak. They’ve been shutout over the last two games, suffering 4-0 losses to the Kelowna Rockets and the Broncos last night in Swift Current. The last time the Raiders scored a goal was at the 11:34 mark of the second period in Kamloops, a stretch of nearly two and a half games. If anything will get them back in the goal column, it will be playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in 21 days, as they kick off a three game homestand, with the team trying desperately to stay alive in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt.

HOME, SWEET HOME: A return to familiar territory may be just what the Raiders need to find their way back into the win column. After spending a season high six straight games on the road and 21 days between home games, playing at the Art Hauser Centre again will no doubt spark an extra fire under the Raiders’ skates tonight, as they look to split their weekend series with the Broncos.
WINTER BLUES: Over the past two games, Prince Albert has been bit with a bit of a goal bug. Scoreless in over 145 minutes, it hasn’t been for a lack of effort that the green and gold aren’t finding any goals. With a combined 70 shots in their last two games, the Raiders have had their fair share of scoring chances. It’s only a matter of time before the floodgates open and we start seeing pucks pile into the net again.
STILL HANGING AROUND: Still in it. While they are still nine points back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the window is still open for the Raiders to make a late playoff push. Tonight’s game against the Broncos feels like a must win game however. After tonight, Prince Albert will play a combined 11 of their remaining 17 games against the top four ranked teams in the Eastern Conference (Winnipeg, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw). A loss tonight would put the Raiders a possible 11 points out of the playoffs, while a win could bring them to within seven points.
UP NEXT: Friday, February 17th is anticipated to be a sellout crowd at the AHC, with Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats in town. Then on Saturday, the Raiders wrap up their three game homestand by hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors. Puck drop for both games is 7pm.
