Game Preview: Game 47 @ Saskatoon
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders picked up one of their biggest wins of the season last night, taking down the Saskatoon Blades 5-4 in a shootout. It was a game that Prince Albert trailed 4-2 in the third period, but a late goal from Turner McMillen with 41 seconds left in regulation set the stage for overtime, and the eventual shootout. Sloan Stanick and Krzysztof Macias both scored in the shootout for the Raiders, helping snap a five game losing streak. Tonight, these two teams will battle again as they wrap up a home and home set, going head to head for the seventh time this season.
THE BIG 200:
Niall Crocker gets set to play in his 200th Western Hockey League game tonight. He is the second-most tenured Raider on this year’s team behind Sloan Stanick in WHL games played. Last night against the Blades, Crocker unofficially registered a pair of assists, bumping his point total up to 38 on the season.
STAYING HOT:
Oi Chenier’s powerplay goal in the first period last night has added on to the rookie forward’s hot stretch. Last night’s goal came on his 17th birthday, and he’s been one of the more consistent scorers as of late, collecting 10 points in his last 10 games.
