Hudson Sayers inks WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement with Winterhawks
Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of defenseman Hudson Sayers to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. Sayers was selected by the Winterhawks in the eighth round (175th overall) of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. He becomes the fourth player from the 2009-born class to sign with Portland.
“Hudson is a prototypical Portland defenseman,” said President and General Manager Mike Johnston. “He has great hockey sense and plays the game with pace. We are excited to have him as part of our group.”
Sayers, 15, played for Northern Alberta Extreme U15 Varsity during 2023-24, tallying 32 points (6G, 26A) in 27 games. The blueliner capped off an impressive regular season campaign with one goal and nine assists in the postseason to help his club capture the CSSHL U15 AAA championship.
Prior to the 2023-24 season, the Edam, Sask. Native skated with Lloydminster Athletics U14 team recording 20 points (4G, 16A) in 32 games. Sayers made his Neely Cup debut last month, finishing in third place with Team Ponich.
