GAME DAY: Hurricanes and Pats round 2

The Hurricanes 3 game in 3 night road trip through Saskatchewan comes to an end tonight when they renew acquaintances with the Pats for the second time in a week. The Hurricanes enter the game on a 3 game win streak after defeating the Prince Albert Raiders 3-1 last night, while Regina has now lost 4 straight after dropping a 2-1 decision to Swift Current. With their recent win streak the Hurricanes now sit 10^th in the conference with 9 points – 2 points back of the Pats who are 8^th in the East. In their first meeting of the season in Lethbridge last weekend, Carter Folk opened the scoring but Regina scored 5 unanswered goals to win 6-1. The Hurricanes were 0/6 on the PP in the game while the Pats were 2/4. Offensively this season, Lethbridge is led by Riley Sheen who has 12 points while Dryden Hunt and Connor Gay also have 12 points for the Pats.

During the 2013-2014 season, the Hurricanes were 1-3 against the Pats with their lone win coming on New Year’s Day when they doubled up Regina 6-3.

U17 Hockey Challenge: 1998 born goalie Stuart Skinner was named to Canada Team Black at the U17 Hockey Challenge scheduled for November 2nd – 8^th in Sarnia-Lambton, ON. The tournament will be the first to feature three Canadian national teams – Black, Red and White.

NHL’s Watchful Eye: 2^nd year Centre, Giorgio Estephan has caught the eye of the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau. On the preliminary Draft Watch List for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the 6’0, 184 pound native of Edmonton was listed as a WHL “C” skater indicating a 4^th to 6^th round candidate. Estephan was drafted in the 1^st round (4^th overall) by Lethbridge in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft and last year finished with 24 points (12G, 12A) in 64 games.

-NHL Camps: Nick Walters signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement with the Columbus Blue Jackets and attended their Prospects Camp in September where he competed at the NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan.

-Oh Captain my Captain: Calgary native Jamal Watson was named the 24^th Captain in franchise history. The 6 assistants will wear the ‘A’ either at home or on the road. The A’s are: Riley Sheen, Nick Walters, Zane Jones, Lenny Hackman, Tyler Wong and Carter Folk.
