COUNTDOWN TO WHL HISTORY
Regina, SK – In just seven days, on Monday, February 21st at 1pm, the Regina Pats will face the Calgary Hitmen at McMahon Stadium in Calgary for the first ever major junior outdoor game in Canadian history.
This game is a part of the NHL Heritage Classic weekend that will also feature the game between the Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames on Sunday afternoon.
The NHL caravan that gets the stadium ready for hockey passed through Regina on its way to Calgary last weekend, and is now in Calgary putting in many hours, preparing the ice surface for the weekend’s games.
For this occasion, the Pats will be wearing commemorative jersey’s (pictured left: Pats Captain Garrett Mitchell with the outdoor jersey) that are replicas of the jerseys they wore in the 1950’s when the Pats were the junior affiliate of the Canadiens.
Pats fans will get a chance to see these jersey’s in action on home ice this Friday night as the Pats host the Calgary Hitmen, 7pm at the Brandt Centre in this crucial game for the Pats in the chase for the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. During the game, fans will also have a chance to take home a piece of history, as the jerseys from this Friday’s game will be auctioned off via silent auction during the first and second periods.
