Congratulations Future Hurricane
Moser and Tot head to Canada’s National Midget AAA Championships
rLethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes would like to extend their congratulations to the Buffaloes and especially to Hurricanes’ draft picks Philip Tot and Ryon Moser. The Calgary Buffaloes won a best of three Pacific Regional’s qualifier against the Vancouver Midget Giants on the weekend and will now advance to the Telus Cup; Canada’s National Midget AAA Championship to be held in Selkirk, MB on April 20-26, 2009.
r
r“I would like to personally thank and congratulate Buffaloes’ coach, James Poole, for the tremendous role he has played in leading Calgary to the Telus Cup while developing his team, and in particular, Ryon and Philip,” said Canes’ GM Roy Stasiuk. ““The Alberta Midget Hockey League, and in fact all four western branches’ Midget programs, have proved to be great places to develop and grow talent. The intensity and caliber of play does nothing but help a player’s development.”
r
rThe Lethbridge Hurricanes have two bright prospects playing with the Buffaloes, including 2008 first round pick, Philip Tot, who finished the AMHL playoffs with 12 points in 15 games. Even more impressive was centre Ryon Moser who led all AMHL playoff scorers with an incredible 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 15 games. Moser joined the Buffaloes after a strong showing in Canes’ training camp. It was decided another year of Midget would be helpful in giving him time to further develop his strength and offensive skills. Having played two regular season games, Moser will join the Hurricanes, along with fellow 16 year old prospect, Mark Reners, on a full time basis next season.
r
rThe Hurricanes have also committed to Philip Tot and the 15 year old will be given every opportunity to earn a roster spot with Lethbridge.
