GAME DAY: Hurricanes Return Home to Face Blades
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the ENMAX Centre tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the WHL-leading Saskatoon Blades in the first of a two-game homestand.
The Hurricanes (24-24-3-0) enter on a four-game losing streak after suffering a 4-1 loss in Swift Current to the Broncos on Wednesday. Brayden Edwards scored the lone goal for the ‘Canes while Harrison Meneghin made 30-saves in the loss. Lethbridge was outshot 34-22, marking the seventh consecutive game the Hurricanes were outshot. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 1-5-0-0 record in their last six games, but sit with a 15-7-3-0 record at home this year. Lethbridge sits tied for eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Blades (39-9-2-3) enter on an 11-game point streak after earning a 3-2 victory in Swift Current last Saturday. Egor Sidorov, Brandon Lisowsky and Lukas Hansen scored in the victory while Austin Elliott made 24-saves. It marked the eighth-straight victory having gone 10-0-0-1 in their last 11 games. Saskatoon enters with a 16-8-1-3 record on the road this season as they sit first place in the WHL standings having already clinched a 2024 WHL Playoff berth.
Tonight will be the third of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Blades; Lethbridge has posted an 0-2-0-0 record against Saskatoon having been downed 3-1 in each of the first two meetings. VS. BLADES: Tonight will be the third of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Blades. NHL Ink: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 22nd. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal. Chadwick has recorded 43 points (9g-34a) in 49 games with the Hurricanes this season. He is seven points shy of becoming the first ‘Canes defenceman to record 50+ points in a season since Alex Cotton (67) and Calen Addison (52) accomplished the feat during the 2019-2020 regular season.
