GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to Build on Momentum Against Oil Kings
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will end a two-game homestand tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings to the ENMAX Centre.
The Hurricanes (25-25-5-0) ended a seven-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 6-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Tristen Doyle and Leo Braillard both scored twice while Logan Wormald and Miguel Marques added the others in the win; Harrison Meneghin made 31-saves in the victory. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 16-7-3-0 record at home this year having posted an 8-1-3-0 record in their last 12 home games. The ‘Canes currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Oil Kings (19-33-2-1) enter after earning a last minute victory on Wednesday over the Calgary Hitmen at Rogers Place. Five different goal scorers lit the lamp in the win, including final minute goals by Ty Nash and Gavin Hodnett to tie and win the game with nine-seconds remaining; Hudson Perry made 26-saves for his first WHL win in the game. Edmonton enters tonight with an 8-17-1-0 record on the season. The Oil Kings sit last in the Eastern Conference standings.
Tonight will be the fifth of six meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings; Lethbridge has posted a 3-1-0-0 record in the previous four meetings while going 1-0-0-0 at the ENMAX Centre this year. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal.
