GAME DAY: Hurricanes Return Home to Face Warriors
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return home tonight as they welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena in the first of a four-game homestand.
The Hurricanes (8-17-0-1) enter on a two-game losing streak after ending a seven-game road trip with a 6-2 loss to the Prince George Cougars last Friday at CN Centre. Kayden Longley and Owen Berge scored in the loss to the Cougars as the ‘Canes ended their road trip with a 3-4-0-0 record. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 3-7-0-1 record at home this season, but are 3-2-0-1 in their last six on home ice.
The Warriors (12-11-1-1) enter having earned a 5-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Thursday at Scotiabank Saddledome. Liam McFadden scored twice while Riley Thorpe, Mathieu Lajoie and William DeGagne scored in the win; Chase Wutzke was outstanding making 44-saves in the contest as Moose Jaw was outshot 46-19. The Warriors enter tonight with a 5-4-0-1 record on the road this season.
Tonight will be the second of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and the Warriors; Lethbridge has posted an 0-1-0-0 record against Moose Jaw this season. VS. WARRIORS: Tonight will be the second of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Warriors. Road Trip Wrap: Lethbridge ended a season-long seven-game road trip last Friday with a 6-2 loss in Prince George to the Cougars. The Hurricanes ended their trip with a 3-4-0-0 record while posting a 3-3-0-0 record through six games in British Columbia. In total, the ‘Canes traveled over 5,000 kilometres on their 13-day road trip which is a longer distance than traveling from Los Angeles to New York City.
Big Trade: On November 9th, the Hurricanes acquired 2006-born forward Kayden Longley, prospect Grayson Bauer along with five draft picks including a conditional first-round pick in 2026 from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for overage forward Shane Smith and the WHL rights to 2007-born import forward Vojtech Cihar. He made his ‘Canes debut on November 12th in Penticton; since joining the Hurricanes, Longley has collected five points (1g-4a) in six games.
Seventh Heaven: On November 7th, Luke Cozens recorded a career-high seven points (2g-5a) in an 8-7 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings. He became the first Hurricane to record a seven-point game since Mitch Fadden had seven points in a victory against the Red Deer Rebels on March 17th, 2007. Cozens finished two points off the Hurricanes record of nine points held by Jason Ruff and Corey Lyons. He was the 11th player in ‘Canes history to record seven-or-more points in a game.
