GAME DAY: Hurricanes Welcome Royals in Lone Meeting
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes pitstop at home tonight as they welcome the Victoria Royals at 6:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on RE/MAX Presents: Nickelodeon Night for Children’s Miracle Network.
The Hurricanes (12-5-1-0) enter on a season-long four-game winning streak after earning a 3-0 shutout victory on Monday against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Logan Wormald, Noah Chadwick and Miguel Marques scored in the win while Koen Cleaver made 35-saves for his first WHL shutout. Lethbridge enters tonight with an 8-1-1-0 record on home-ice this season while having gone 1-0-1-0 against BC Division opponents.
The Royals (11-6-2-1) enters tonight with a 2-2-1-0 record in their last five games after suffering a 5-1 loss in Medicine Hat to the Tigers on Friday. Nolan Stewart scored the lone goal in the defeat while Jayden Krauss made 31-saves. Victoria enters with a 7-4-0-0 record on the road this season.
Tonight will mark the first and only meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Royals; Lethbridge posted a 1-0-0-0 record against Victoria last year. The former third-round draft pick (60th overall) in the 2019 draft is also ranked eighth all-time in defenceman scoring in ‘Canes history sitting two points back of Terry Hollinger (126) for seventh.
Trade Winds: The Hurricanes acquired 2005-born import defenceman Vojtech Port on November 15th from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for 2006-born rearguard Ryder Ellis, a second-round draft pick (2027) and a third-round draft pick (2025). Port, who is drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, has appeared in 109 career regular season games in the WHL totaling 35 points (8g-27a) along with 41 penalty minutes.
Gone Streakin’: Brayden Edwards enters tonight on a career-long 10-game point streak having racked up 17 points (7g-10a) in that span.
