#24 – DWIGHT KING
Dwight King was a Lethbridge Hurricane for parts of five seasons from 2004 to 2009.
The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan product was drafted by the Hurricanes fourth overall in the 2004 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. After being drafted, King spent the 2004-2005 season with the Beardy’s Blackhawks before making the jump to the WHL.
King appeared in 273 games with the Hurricanes collecting a total of 189 points (79g-110a) along with 170 penalty minutes and a plus-25 rating. He appeared in an addition 40 post-season games with the ‘Canes scoring 22 points (9g-13a). His best offensive season came in 2007-2008 when he netted 69 points (34g-35a).
The big left-winger was a key member of the 2008 Hurricanes that went all the way to the WHL Final before losing out to the Spokane Chiefs. During that exciting run, King appeared in 19 games registering 14 points (8g-6a) along with 12 penalty minutes. King is the younger brother of DJ King who was a Hurricane from 2001 to 2004.
Dwight sits 5th in all-time Hurricanes games played (273), 20th in all-time goals (79) and 19th in all-time assists (110). He was also a recipient of the Hurricanes Scholastic of the Year Award in 2005-2006.
King was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fourth round (109th overall) in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In addition to 202 American Hockey League games with the Manchester Monarchs, he has played in 285 NHL games with the Kings registering 93 points (44g-49a) along with 86 penalty minutes. He is entering his seventh season in the Kings organization.
King is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion in 2012 and 2014.
