Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen, Prostate Cancer Canada and Canada Safeway are wrapping up the month of “Movember”, a month to fight prostate cancer. |
| During the month Hitmen players, staff and fans along with Off-Ice Officials and Novice Hitmen coaches grew mustaches to raise pledges and awareness for Prostate Cancer Canada. At a news conference in the Hitmen dressing room today players shaved them off. As of mid afternoon a total of $12,086 dollars has been raised through the Hitmen website. The Hitmen will continue to collect donations until the end of the month, but with the team set to depart on a BC road trip tomorrow morning, they released financial results today. “We had a blast growing moustaches this month with some much better than others,” smiled Hitmen defenceman Carter Berg. “It’s a great cause and hopefully by taking part we helped people realize how many men are affected by this disease. I would like to thank all fans for contributing to this wonderful campaign,” Fans still wanting to make a last minute donation can do so until midnight Tuesday by clicking on the “Movember” link on the club’s website www.hitmenhockey.com The Calgary Flames who partnered with the Hitmen on this campaign will release their fundraising results on Wednesday. |
