As of mid afternoon a total of $12,086 dollars has been raised through the Hitmen website.  The Hitmen will continue to collect donations until the end of the month, but with the team set to depart on a BC road trip tomorrow morning, they released financial results today.  

“We had a blast growing moustaches this month with some much better than others,” smiled Hitmen defenceman Carter Berg.  “It’s a great cause and hopefully by taking part we helped people realize how many men are affected by this disease.  I would like to thank all fans for contributing to this wonderful campaign,”
During his lifetime, 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with the disease, and this number is expected to rise to 1 in 4 within a decade. Prostate cancer is over 90 per cent curable if detected and treated in its earliest stages. In addition to investing in research, Movember raises awareness and ultimately saves lives.  Funds raised will support the development of programs related to prostate cancer awareness, education, and research into the prevention, early detection, treatment and possible cure of prostate cancer.
“Canada Safeway is a long standing partner of Prostate Cancer Canada and it was a natural fit for us to participate in the Hitmen Movember event,” said Chuck Mulvenna, President and Chief Operating Officer for Canada Safeway.

The Calgary Flames who partnered with the Hitmen on this campaign will release their fundraising results on Wednesday.
