Main Camp Fitness Testing
The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club opened Main Camp this evening at the Don Hartman North East Sportsplex, 5206 – 68 Street NE, with fitness testing. Over 50 returning players, list players and camp invites were put through a series of five tests conducted by Hitmen strength and conditioning coach Sean Hope-Ross and the National Sports Development staff. The top performers in each category are listed below.
155 lbs. Bench Press: Spencer Humphries (25 reps)
Chin-ups to Muscular Failure: Cameron Preymack (22)
Broad Jump: Cody Sylvester (2.85 metres)
Beep Test: Jacob Ruissen (Stage 12.5)
Curl-ups to Muscular Failure: Paul Biegel (99)
Main Camp on-ice sessions will be held over three days starting tomorrow, Sunday, August 26 at 8:30 a.m. and concluding Tuesday, August 28 with the annual Calgary Hitmen Intra-Squad Game. All on-ice sessions, including the Intra-Squad Game, are free and open to the public. Rosters will be available at the Don Hartman North East Sportsplex.

Following Training Camp, the Hitmen will play a total of six pre-season games with the only local game taking place at WinSport (C.O.P.) on Friday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. versus the Red Deer Rebels. On Saturday, September 22, Calgary hosts division rival Kootenay Ice for the 2012-13 Adrenalin Source For Sports Home Opener. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
