Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen 2011 Rookie Camp saw its first intra-squad games Saturday afternoon as 73 hopefuls took to the ice at Don Hartman North East Sportsplex (5206-68th Street NE).
Both games were split into two 30 minute straight time periods with penalty shots awarded instead of powerplays.
In the opener, Team White beat Team Red 7-6 in a shootout. Hitmen 2010 second round bantam pick Austin Calladine scored the winner for Team White while Quinn Peplinski had a pair of goals. Team Red was led Eli Jarvis who had four goals in the loss.
The final intra-squad game of the day saw Team Black defeat Team Copper 7-4. Hitmen 2010 first round bantam pick Greg Chase led the way with a hat trick for Team Black while Jamison Stoski had three assists in the loss for Team Copper.
There are four more rookie camp intra-squad games scheduled for tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m.
Main camp then opens at 5:15 p.m. with fitness testing.
All training camp sessions including the annual Hitmen Intra-Squad Game on August 31st are free and open to the public.
