BACK-TO-BACK BLANKS
Kamloops, BC – Mack Shields made 26 saves for his first shutout of the season and third of his WHL career as the Calgary Hitmen blanked the Kamloops Blazers 3-0 Saturday night at Interior Savings Centre.
Jaynen Rissling, Kenton Helgesen and Adam Tambellini provided the scoring, helping Calgary produce their third-straight win on the road to finish their BC road trip at 3-2.
Brady Brassart had a pair of assists, extending his point streak to six games, while Colby Harmsworth notched a milestone playing in his 100th career regular season contest.
The Calgary power play entered the game having scored six goals in the previous three games and they continued their strong play with the extra attack on this night producing a pair of power play goals.
The victory improves the Hitmen record to 35-15-3-3. Calgary remains third in the WHL’s Eastern Conference with 76 points.
Calgary will now open a two-game homestand, starting Tuesday night against the Prince Albert Raiders, before hosting the Saskatoon Blades on Friday. Both are 7:00 p.m. starts at Scotiabank Saddledome.
