Two Hitmen Selected In 2021 NHL Draft
The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is pleased to announce two Hitmen have been selected in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Sean Tschigerl (pronounced SHUH-gal) and Tyson Galloway were both drafted in the fifth round today, Tschigerl 130th overall to the Anaheim Ducks and Galloway at pick 145 to the St. Louis Blues.
“As an organization we are very proud to have both Sean and Tyson selected in the 2021 NHL Draft,” said Hitmen General Manager Jeff Chynoweth. “Both players have worked extremely hard and under difficult circumstances to achieve this first step in their goal of one day playing in the NHL.”
Tschigerl is coming off a breakout season for the Hitmen in his second year in the Western Hockey League. The Whitecourt, AB product was a mainstay in the top six while notching a point a game. He led the club in goals with 13 while recording 21 points (13, 8a) in 21 games.
Galloway, from Kamloops, BC, also took great strides in his sophomore campaign to finish as the second highest scoring defenceman on the Hitmen blueline. His nine points (4g, 5a) were registered in 17 games while playing top pairing minutes.
Both players were the first two Hitmen taken in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft with Tschigerl selected fourth overall and Galloway 25th.
