HITMEN FINISH THREE GAME ROAD TRIP WITH 5-2 LOSS TO REBELS
The Calgary Hitmen traveled to the Peavey Mart Centrium Wednesday night to take on the Red Deer Rebels for the second of eight matchups this season.
Red Deer opened up the scoring three minutes into the first off a tip in goal from Ben King. Calgary was able to tie it up with one from Sean Tschigerl on the power play, making it his first goal of the season. Ben King had an answer with his second of the night, also on the power play, to regain the lead for Red Deer. The home team extended their lead to two courtesy of Kai Uchacz heading into the second period.
Despite successful killing four penalties in the second period, Calgary was unable to keep Red Deer at bay, with Kalan Lind finding the back of the net at even strength with under two minutes to go in the period.
Entering the final frame down by three on the kill, Tyson Galloway cleared the puck of the centre ice face off beating Red Deer’s netminder eight seconds in cutting the lead in half. The period remained scoreless until Jayden Grubbe found the empty net in the last minutes of the game to secure the 5-2 win.
Tyson Galloway earned third star of the game. The defenceman now has six points (2g, 4a) in five games this season.
