HITMEN FALL TO THE REBELS 5-3
The Calgary Hitmen rang in 2023 this afternoon at home against the Red Deer Rebels.
Red Deer led the charge in today’s game opening the scoring with two from Jace Isley and Kai Uchacz. Calgary had a response in the second period scoring two back-to-back goals to tie the game. Brandon Whynott put Calgary on the board tipping in a shot from Blake Heward. London Hoilett added another tally less than two minutes later. Red Deer would regain the lead with Uchacz’s second of the game but Oliver Tulk responded tying it back up off a feed from Jacob Wright at the end of the period.
The third would remain scoreless with heavy pressure coming from Calgary but they were unable to put one past Red Deer netminder Rhett Stroesser. A late goal from Ollie Josephson and an empty net from Uchacz would secure a 5-3 win for Red Deer.
Calgary outshot Red Deer 37-29, London Hoilett earned second star.
