Hitmen Defeat Oil Kings In Pre-Season Action
The Calgary Hitmen picked up their first win of the 2021 WHL pre-season with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings Friday night at the Downtown Community Arena in the province capital.
Hitmen goaltender Brayden Peters put on a show ending with 27 saves which included a handful of big stops to backstop his club to victory. Rookie forward David Adaszynski scored in regulation and Tristan Zandee authored the game winner 1:35 into the extra frame. Rookie defenceman Carter Yakemchuk chipped in on the scoresheet with a team-high two points, both assists.

As the clubs traded chances for the remainder of regulation, the red light would turn on for the Hitmen in overtime as Zandee tipped in Yakemchuk’s pass into the back of the cage for his second of the pre-season.
