Carter Yakemchuk Signs Three-Year Entry Level Contract with Ottawa Senators
The Calgary Hitmen are thrilled to announce that defenceman Carter Yakemchuk has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators.
“It’s an honour to be able to sign and continue my path to the NHL with a great organization” said Yakemchuk, “I’m looking forward to this season to continue to work on my game and get to the pro level”
Yakemchuk, a native of Calgary, scored a career-high 71 points this past season with the Hitmen from 30 goals and 41 assists. The 18-year-old led all rearguards in the WHL in goals and was the first Hitmen defenceman to score 30 goals in a single campaign.
“We are extremely proud of Carter and what he has accomplished so far” said General Manager Garry Davidson. “This is another exciting step for Carter and his family on his journey to the NHL”
Recently, Yakemchuk attended the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence Summer Camps as a member of Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Showcase roster, joining 16 other first round draft picks.
Yakemchuk was selected 7th overall at the 2024 NHL Draft by the Senators in Las Vegas back in June.
