A Letter to Hitmen Fans
Hitmen Hockey Fans,
The world we know has changed dramatically in a matter of weeks. The Western Hockey League announced on March 23rd the cancellation of the 2019-20 WHL playoffs and the Memorial Cup. The events that we are witnessing each day surrounding the global COVID-19 pandemic serve as a stark reminder that there are many things far more important than hockey.
We are extremely disappointed for you, our Hitmen season ticket holders, sponsors and fans who continue to support us through the highs and lows of junior hockey. Thank you for always being there for us and for making Hitmen Hockey the success it has been. It is unimaginable to think 25th anniversary of Hitmen Hockey would have concluded like this.
We would also like to thank our players, coaches and staff for their commitment to excellence. At the end of each season we all recognize that the team that finished the year will not be the same one that begins the next season. The opportunity to recognize our graduating 20 year old players was not provided to them. Other players will also go onto college or pro hockey after successful Western Hockey League careers. We know however, that they will have extremely fond memories of their time playing junior hockey at the Scotiabank Saddledome in front of the best fans in the Western Hockey League.
The goal of the Hitmen organization is to provide detailed, complete, and most importantly, accurate ticketing information to our fans. This becomes even more important in an environment where news and government regulations change from day-to-day. Monday’s announcement provides the finality needed to communicate reliable and complete information to each fan regarding your tickets for the now-cancelled regular season and playoff games. Rest assured that each and every ticket for all cancelled games will be honored once the 2020-2021 season commences. Please refer to the FAQ’s below for additional information.
Regardless of the lost opportunity to play this great game, we encourage everyone to follow the advice of local health authorities and help us to stop the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and self-isolation. By acting responsibly at all times, we can beat this virus and get back to Hitmen hockey next season.
As we all await a positive progression in the current situation we face, we encourage you to go to hitmenhockey.com and our social media channels to enjoy Hitmen specific content from our 25th season. We have had some great memories from the past year and are thankful and appreciative that you could share them with us. We look forward to many more in the future!
Together we will get through this Hitmen fans, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to the Scotiabank Saddledome for Hitmen hockey in the 2020/21 season.
Please stay safe!
