The Giants are coming off a hard fought 3-2 overtime loss to the Calgary Hitmen on Friday evening. The Vancouver club now sits eight points behind both the Portland Winterhawks and Kamloops Blazers who are tied for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. Both teams have one game in hand on the G-Men. Vancouver’s top forwards have been playing well of late as Ty Ronning is on an eight game point streak while Chase Lang has goals in his last four games.
The Oil Kings have won four games in a row entering Monday’s action. They most recently shutout the Kamloops Blazers 4-0 on Saturday night in the Thompson-Okanagan. The Oil Kings’ top line of Brandon Baddock, Lane Bauer and Brett Pollock has caused the Giants fits this season, combining for 13 points in the two head-to-head meetings between the clubs. Edmonton currently holds the last wild card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
